How does your face get old?

The transition from perfect baby skin as a child to older, wrinkled, blotchy skin of the elderly is a progressive process. This process involves all skin layers, muscles as well as the bones.

The skin becomes thinner, dehydrated and lax as it gradually loses more and more collagen and hyaluronic acid. As a result, the skin loses its firmness and volume and begins to change due to lifestyle factors and gravity. Another significant factor is the loss of subcutaneous tissue and fat which form soft pads in some areas of the face such as the eyes eye brows, cheeks or temples. As a result the face loses its smoothing and rounding out contours. The youthful “triangular shape” of the face with the base up reverses which gives the face old and tired look.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural ingredient of human skin. It is produced by fibroblasts which make the structural framework for human tissues. Hyaluronic acid fills intercellular areas and makes perfect environment for skin cells. It is also responsible for stimulating the production of collagen and protecting all skin elements from exposure to free radicals. Hyaluronic acid also contributes to tissue hydrodynamics; it is responsible for the amount of water tied in the skin which makes it an ideal moisturizing factor. However, over time human skin begins to lose its natural resources of hyaluronic acid which affects the work of fibroblasts. Consequently, the amount of collagen decreases which makes human skin lose its volume. This process can be stopped with a single injection of hyaluronic acid to help your skin regain its youthful look.

Products rich in hyaluronic acid

There are many products rich in hyaluronic acid. Brands available on the Polish market include: Restylane, Juvederm, Succeev, Stylage, Teosyal. Each of the brands offers a wide variety of different texture, such as Restylane Vital (light texture), or Juvederm Voluma (rich texture).

Products rich in natural hyaluronic acid (Juvederm Hydrate) are mainly used for mezotherapy which instantly improves hydration and rejuvenation of skin. Other similar products are additionally supplemented with glycerine, glicerol and mannitol which make the product perfect moisturizers.

There is a variety of different dermal fillers depending on the area to be treated, ranging from hydrating fillers which are perfect for the neck, smooth fillers ideal for the lips or denser fillers for volumising which are most suitable for the cheeks. Sometimes a combination of fillers is used on a particular area to achieve the perfect result. Products which are used at Ekoderm as dermal fillers all have a proven track record for safety and so you can be assured that they are perfectly safe. We use world’s best known brands such as Restylane, Juvederm and Succeev.

Every client is unique so at Ekoderm our practitioners make sure that the best possible treatment is chosen for each individual client. For non surgical face lift we choose from a wide variety of treatments: Restylane Vital, Restylane, Restylane Perlane, Juvederm Ultra 3, Juvederm Ultra 4, Juvederm Voluma, Succeev Two or Succeev Three.

How does the treatment work?

The areas of face which need enhancement are injected with product rich in hyaluronic acid. As every patient is treated individually, the amount of the product as well as the areas to be injected with it are chosen individually. This procedure helps to fill in deep creases below the lower eyelids along the nose extending to the corner of the mouth as well as other wrinkles and round out the face contour. The treatment is performed with special elastic canniula which have been designed so as not to make numerous punctures. With such canniula it is possible to distribute the product evenly all over the face. The canniula makes it possible to cover a relatively large area with a fan of threads, while limiting the number of puncture sites. This technique will also enhance the soft tissue and help skin to regain its hydration and firmness.

The treatment with the application of Restylane is called hyaluronic thread while the treatment with the application of Juvederm is called “Juvelift”. The amount of 1 ml to 3 ml of the product is injected into each side of the face. After the injection, the product is evenly distributed and massaged properly by the practitioner.

Do I need local anaesthetic?

Our usual practice is to apply an anaesthetic cream (Emla) 30-40 minutes before the injection. We can also inject local anaesthetic which is normally used in dental surgery so that the area that is to be treated feels numb and discomfort is kept to minimum. In any case, however, the practitioner needs to be informed about possible allergic reactions.

Who is the treatment for?

The treatment is designed for both women and men who have experienced decreasing condition of their skin and wish to regain youthful triangular shape of the face. These changes may also include flattened cheek bones, deep creases below the lower eyelids and along the nose. These processes are usually noticeable with slim patients over 45 years of age which is the best time to undergo the treatment.

What are the results?

After the treatment the creases and wrinkles are minimized. Cheek bones become more prominent which gives the face more youthful triangular shape. Also the face contours become rounded out and the eyebrows are raised to a more alert and youthful position. These soft tissue fillers add more volume and provide immediate results so that the face gains its youthful fullness.
The natural property of hyaluronic acid is to gradually absorb water and increase its volume so the volumising result of the treatment remains distinct even many weeks after the injection. As a result the skin slowly becomes denser as it regains its ability to produce bigger amounts of collagen. The final result is softened creases more prominent cheek bones, youthful contour and denser skin.

When do I see the final results of the treatment?

The final results should be expected after 3 to 4 weeks after the treatment. It is usually then that the practitioner together with the patient make the decision concerning additional treatments which are sometimes necessary. Our usual practice is to achieve the desired effect gradually rather than with one big application of the product. Such approach sometimes means the need to repeat the treatment after 3-4 weeks and then enjoy the final result.

How many treatments do I need to see satisfactory results?

Younger patients under 45 years of age are usually satisfied with a single injection of 2ml to 3 ml of hyaluronic acid. To see satisfactory results older patients with lax skin and deeper creases usually need another treatment performed 3 to 4 weeks after the first injection.

How long do I see the results of the treatment?

Satisfactory results, which have been achieved after 1 to 2 treatments, can usually be noticeable for 12 to 18 months. This period of time depends on the patient’s age, the kind and amount of the filler as well as the patient’s lifestyle and their general physical condition. It must be emphasized that smoking can significantly diminish the results of the treatment.

How often do I need to repeat the treatment?

The treatment should be repeated every 12 to 18 months, depending on the results. Further treatments usually require less product as the increased amount of collagen in the skin strengthens its structure and helps it look younger. Such treatments are usually called “maintenance therapy”.

Contraindications include

  • Oversensitivity to any of the ingredients, especially hyaluronic acid,
  • Autoimmune disease,
  • Susceptibility to keloids,
  • Skin bacterial infection,
  • Herpes virus,
  • Pregnancy and breast-feeding,
  • Teenagers under 18,
  • Other dermal filling treatments performed on the same area.

How do I look just after the treatment?

After the treatment you should expect the area to be a little swollen, red and tender which is caused by the filler and swelling. Shortly after the treatment hematocele and bruising may occur but these usually disappear within a few days. Bruising sometimes takes a couple of days to develop and 10-14 days to change colour and resolve with no further damage to the final result.

Before the treatment: guidelines

There is no need for any preliminary medical preparation, but patients have to be in good physical condition. One week before the treatment patients should not take aspirin or any other medication that decrease coagulability. We advise our patients to take aescin (Aescin 3x2tabl, Reparil 3x2 tabl), a few days before the treatment as it decreases the risk of hematocele. Patients who tend to suffer from herpes should prophylactically take acyclovir (Heviran tablets 400 mg twice a day) two days before the treatment.

After the treatment: guidelines

After the treatment you should apply a thin film of soothing gel and massage the area twice a day (use: Cicalfat, Cetaphil MD, Cicaplast Baume B5, Sensicure). If bruising occurs, it can be treated with Auriderm, Ortholan Vein, Lioton 1000 or Reparil. Patients are also advised to continue taking Aescin or Reparil. Finally, when redness, tenderness, hardening and bruises clear up, patients can discontinue medication and resume their usual skin care practices. It is recommended that patients use high quality skin care products with sun filter SPF50+.

How can I keep the result for longer?

At Ekoderm we believe the aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself which is why we advise patients to look after their skin properly on a daily basis. You can do it by using a high factor sun protection that will protect against both UVA and UVB radiation (SPF 30-50), as well as products which contain antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E or flavonoid. We also advise our patients to take diet supplements which contain vitamin C, vitamin E, coenzyme Q10 and flvonoid. It is important to refrain from smoking which is responsible for accelerating ageing processes and greatly diminishes all results of aesthetic treatments which have been achieved so far. The whole range of skin rejuvenating treatments such as medical skin peels and mezotherapy are also highly recommended.

Recommended supplementary treatments

We recommend that our patients who have been given treatment with hyaluronic acid should follow skin rejuvenating therapy. This will help to stimulate skin for better production of collagen. The therapy includes a series of medical skin peels (pyruvic acid, glycolic salicylic acid,) along with mezotherapy with hyaluronic acid (Juvederm Hydrate) or products rich in multiple ingredients (NCTF HA, NEWEST, UP GRADE). Peels and mezotherapy should be repeated a few times every 2 to 4 weeks. Another therapy we recommend is an intensive regenerating treatment REGENERIS. Patients who are planning the treatment should also consider resurfacing performed with the use of a fractional laser Palomar StarLux500 Lux 1540 or photorejuvenating treatment with laser handpiece MagG.

Who can perform treatments?

At Ekoderm all treatments are performed by experienced doctors trained in aesthetic medicine who have been given appropriate certificates.

What is “lion’s wrinkle”

“Lion’s wrinkle” is a single crease or several parallel creases which are located on the forehead between the eyebrows. It is often called “mars forehead” as it gives the face a serious and angry look. It may appear at a young age and it is caused by intense facial mimics or while reading or simply trying to concentrate. Every time you wrinkle your brows, the muscle pulls the skin between the brows together which causes parallel vertical creases between them. The wrinkles are not usually visible at a young age when the skin is still smooth. However, when it becomes older and all ageing processes have started, the creases become deeper and therefore more visible. With time they become permanent even when the muscles on the forehead are relaxed.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural ingredient of human skin. It is produced by fibroblasts which form the structural framework for human tissues. Hyaluronic acid fills intercellular areas and makes perfect environment for skin cells. It is also responsible for stimulating the production of collagen and protecting all skin elements from exposure to free radicals. Products which are used at Ekoderm as dermal fillers all have a proven track record for safety and so you can be assured that they are perfectly safe. Every client is unique so at Ekoderm our practitioners make sure that the best possible treatment is chosen for each individual client. For non surgical lifting of the décolletage and bust we choose from a wide variety of treatments: Restylane Vital, Restylane, Restylane Perlane, Juvederm Ultra 3, Juvederm Ultra 4, Juvederm Voluma, Succeev Two.

How does the treatment work?

The product rich in hyaluronic acid is injected evenly into and along each crease. The treatment is performed with a needle which injects proper amount of the product along each crease with numerous punctures. It can also be distributed along the wrinkle from one puncture on each side of the crease with special elastic canniula which makes it possible to bring the crease “out”. After the injection, the product is evenly distributed and massaged properly by the practitioner.

Do I need local anaesthetic?

Our usual practice is to apply an anaesthetic cream (Emla) 30-40 minutes before the injection. We can also inject the puncture sites with local anaesthetic which is normally used in dental surgery so that the area feels numb and discomfort is kept to minimum. In any case, however, the practitioner needs to be informed about possible allergic reactions.

Who is the treatment for?

The treatment is designed for any woman or man who feels uncomfortable with vertical creases between their eye brows and who find it difficult to accept the angry look on their face. This usually happens at the age of 40, especially with people who have dynamic facial expressions.

What are the results?

After the treatment the crease looks filled and visibly more shallow. The skin between the eyebrows is smoother, especially when the muscle is relaxed. We should remember, however that it is natural for skin to wrinkle when the muscle is working.
The natural property of hyaluronic acid is to gradually absorb water and increase its volume so the volumising result of the injection is even more distinct many weeks after the treatment. Hyaluronic acid is also responsible for the production of collagen so the final result is replenished volume and younger looking skin.

When do I see the final results of the treatment?

The results should be expected after 3 to 4 weeks after the treatment. It is usually then that the practitioner together with the patient make the decision concerning additional treatments which are sometimes necessary. It is easier to correct “ lion’s wrinkle” gradually which means that sometimes more product has to be injected after 3 or 4 weeks. It usually takes another 3-4 weeks before the final result can be enjoyed.

How many treatments do I need to see satisfactory results?

Younger patients, under 40 years of age, are usually satisfied with a single injection of 0,3 ml to 0,5ml of hyaluronic acid. To see satisfactory results, older patients (55-60 years old ) usually require one or even two more treatments performed every 3 to 4 weeks.

How long do I see the results of the treatment?

Satisfactory results, which have been achieved after 1 to 3 treatments, can usually be enjoyed for up to 6 months. This period of time depends on the patient’s age, the power of the muscle and its work, the kind of the filler as well as the patient’s general physical condition. It must be emphasized that smoking can significantly diminish the results of the treatment.

How often do I need to repeat the treatment?

The treatment should be repeated every 6 to 8 months, depending on how long the patient can enjoy the results. Further treatments usually require less product as the increased amount of collagen in the skin strengthens its structure and helps it look younger. Such treatments are usually called “maintenance therapy”.

How are forehead wrinkles formed?

Horizontal wrinkles across the forehead are a common phenomenon even among young people. They are formed mainly due to the activity of the forehead muscle, which is responsible for the face mimics. Every time we raise our eyebrows, the muscle contracts and, as a result, numerous horizontal wrinkles appear on our forehead. We do not usually notice them at young age, as our skin is still firm and hydrated, however forehead wrinkles become permanent when skin loses its firmness and hydration. With time, the lines across the forehead get deeper even when the muscle is not working.

Why do we need HYDROBALANS?

Over the aging process our skin losses its natural layers of hyaluronic acid. The first sign of this process, which usually occurs after the age of 30-35, is the loss of its volume and natural, youthful look. Over time, skin gets thinner as the production of collagen and elastic fibers decline, and the quality of the body's fatty layer decreases. However, before such changes take place, we can improve the condition of skin by restoring its hydration against the passing time. HYDROBALANCE is the treatment which helps you restore your skin.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural ingredient of human skin. It is produced by fibroblasts which form the structural framework for human tissues. Hyaluronic acid fills intercellular areas and makes perfect environment for skin cells. It is also responsible for stimulating the production of collagen and protecting all skin elements from exposure to free radicals. Hyaluronic acid also contributes to tissue hydrodynamics; it is responsible for the amount of water tied in the skin which makes it an ideal moisturizing factor. However, over time human skin begins to lose its natural resources of hyaluronic acid which affects the work of fibroblasts. Consequently, the amount of collagen decreases which contributes to the loss in its volume.

There is a variety of different dermal fillers depending on the area to be treated, ranging from hydrating fillers which are perfect for the décolletage, smooth fillers ideal for the lips or denser fillers for volumising which are most suitable for the cheeks. Sometimes to achieve the desired result a combination of fillers are used on a particular area. Dermal fillers which are used at Ekoderm all have a proven track record for safety and so you can be assured that they are perfectly safe. We use world’s best known brands such as Restylane, Juvederm and Succeev. Every client is unique so at Ekoderm our practitioners make sure that the best possible treatment is chosen for each individual client.

How does HYDROBALANCE treatment work?

Depending on the area being treated, the filler product (Restylane Vital, Restylane Vital Light) is injected into the skin or just below it with a tiny needle or cannula. The filler is distributed evenly, usually around the area of special attention such as the face and neck. However, it can also be used to shape and rejuvenate the skin on the hands, décolletage, feet and anywhere else on the body. The treatment is performed using a tiny needle or special cannula, with a cannula being able to bring bruising to minimum. Both techniques, however guarantee outstanding effect - less wrinkled and more youthful skin.
A single injection of 1ml to 2 ml of the product is used to fill a chosen area of the face and body. The whole treatment includes 3 or 4 series which must be repeated at regular intervals of 3 or 4 weeks.

The treatment is designed for all women and men who have noticed the first signs of skin ageing on their face and body. These changes include the loss of volume, lines and hollows which usually start to appear after the age of 30. HYDROBALANS can also be supplementary to other treatments such as dermal fillings with hyaluronic acid, non surgical mini lifts, laser treatments, photo rejuvenation or medical skin peels.

What are the results?

After the series of treatments the result is an instant filling-out effect so that the skin is smoother, less wrinkled, lighter and more youthful. The filler plumps up the layers of skin immediately beneath the area so dry skin becomes more comfortable and smoother. Hyaluronic acid gradually absorbs water and increases its volume so the volumising result of the treatment is even more distinct. Consequently, the skin slowly becomes denser as it regains its ability to produce bigger amount of collagen. The final result is replenished volume, denser and smoother skin. When do I see the final results of the treatment?

It is after 3 to 4 weeks after the last treatment in the series that patients should expect the final results, although our patients usually notice that their skin has improved only after the first treatment.

How many treatments do I need to see satisfactory results?

Younger patients, below 35 years of age, are usually satisfied with a single injection of 1 ml of Restylane Vital or Restylane Vital Light hyaluronic acid.
Patients over 40 years of age usually need the whole series of such treatments to see noticeable results. Each series includes 3 to 5 treatments performed at equal intervals of 3 to 4 months. Such patients should then be given a reminder injection every 3 or 4 months to enjoy younger looking skin.

How long do I see the results of the treatment?

Satisfactory results, which have been achieved after a series of 3 to 5 treatments, can usually be noticeable for 4 up to 6 months. This period of time depends on the patient’s age, the kind and amount of the filler as well as the patient’s lifestyle and the sunlight exposure. It must be emphasized that both smoking and sunlight exposure can significantly diminish the results of the treatment.

How often do I need to repeat the treatment?

The treatment, or the series of treatments should be repeated every 3 to 6 months, depending on the results.

Contraindications

We recommend that our patients who have been given treatment with hyaluronic acid (“hyaluronic thread”) should follow skin rejuvenating therapy. Patients who are planning HYDROBALANS treatment should also consider resurfacing performed with the use of a fractional laser Palomar StarLux500 Lux 1540 or photorejuvenating treatment with laser handpiece MagG.

Who can perform treatments?

At Ekoderm all treatments are performed by experienced doctors trained in aesthetic medicine who have been given appropriate certificates

What are “crow’s feet” and how are they formed?

Horizontal wrinkles across the temples and around the outer eyes are commonly referred to as “crow’s feet”. They are a common phenomenon even among very young people. “Crow’s feet” are formed mainly due to the activity of the eye muscles, which are responsible for the face mimics. Every time we smile or blink into the bright sun, the muscles contracts and, as a result, numerous horizontal wrinkles appear around the eyes. “Crow’s feet” can be single wrinkles or a group of wrinkles in the upper, middle and lower part of the temple. We do not usually notice them at a young age, as our skin is still firm and hydrated, however “crow’s feet” become permanent when skin loses its firmness and hydration. With time, the lines around our eyes get deeper even when the muscle is relaxed.

There is a variety of different dermal fillers depending on the area to be treated, ranging from hydrating fillers which are perfect for the décolletage, smooth fillers ideal for the lips or denser fillers for volumising which are most suitable for the cheeks. Sometimes a combination of fillers are used on a particular area to achieve the perfect result. To reduce wrinkles around the eyes we choose from a wide variety of treatments: Restylane, Restylane Vital, Juvederm Ultra 2, Juvederm Ultra 3, Succeev Two.

How does the treatment work?

The product rich in hyaluronic acid is injected evenly into the skin. The treatment is performed with a needle which injects proper amount of the product along each crease with numerous punctures. It can also be distributed along the wrinkle from one puncture on each side of the crease with special elastic cannula.

The treatment is designed for any woman or man who feels uncomfortable with horizontal creases around the eyes called “crow’s feet”. This usually happens at the age of 40, especially with people who have dynamic facial expressions.

What are the results?

After the treatment the wrinkles look filled and visibly more shallow. The skin around the eyes is firmer and smoother due to improved hydration, especially when the muscles are relaxed. However, the skin will still wrinkle when the muscles are working when we smile or express other emotions with our facial mimics.

The final results should be expected after 2 - 3 weeks after the treatment. It is usually then that the practitioner together with the patient make the decision concerning additional treatments which are sometimes necessary, especially with deeper wrinkles. It is easier to correct “crow’s feet” gradually which means that sometimes more product has to be injected after 2 or 3 weeks. It usually takes another 3-4 weeks before the final result can be enjoyed.

How many treatments do I need to see satisfactory results?

Younger patients, under 40 years of age, are usually satisfied with a single injection of 0,3 - 0,5 ml of hyaluronic acid. To see satisfactory results, older patients (55-60 years old ) usually require another treatment done every 3 to 4 weeks after the first injection.

How long do I see the results of the treatment?

Satisfactory results, which have been achieved after 1 - 3 treatments, can usually be enjoyed for up to 6 months. This period of time depends on the patient’s age, the power of the muscles and their work, the kind of the filler as well as the patient’s general physical condition and lifestyle.

Contraindications include

  • Susceptibility to keloids,

  • Pregnancy and breast-feeding,
  • Teenagers under 18,
  • Other dermal filling treatments performed on the same area.

The treated area can be swollen and tender which is caused by the filler. Shortly after the treatment hematoma and bruising may occur but they usually disappear within a few days. Bruising sometimes takes a couple of days to develop and 10-14 days to change colour and resolve with no further damage to the final result.

Patients who are planning “crow’s feet“ reduction should consider treatments with Botulinum Toxin (Botox, Azzalure, Bocouture) in order to weaken the muscles temporarily. Two weeks after this treatment the wrinkles can be filled with hyaluronic acid which finally can be followed by skin rejuvenating therapy. What happens to your eyelids?

Natural properties of young skin make us look fresh. However, one of the results of skin aging processes is the reduction of the amount of supporting tissues, especially adipose tissue around the eyes, temples and cheeks. As a result the areas below the eyebrow collapse which give us sad old and tired look. Women usually notice these changes when they do make up.

Why do we get sunken cheeks?

The transition from perfect baby skin as a child to older, wrinkled skin of the elderly is a progressive process. This process involves all skin layers, muscles and the bones.

The skin becomes thinner, dehydrated and lax as it gradually loses more and more collagen. As a result, the skin loses its firmness and volume and begins to change due to lifestyle factors and gravity. Another significant factor is the loss of subcutaneous tissue and fat which form soft pads in some areas of the face such as the eyes, eyebrows or cheeks. As a result the cheeks collapse and the face loses its smoothing and rounding out contours which makes it look old and tired.

This process can be stopped with a single injection of hyaluronic acid to help your skin regain its youthful look.

To correct sunken cheeks we choose from a wide variety of treatments: Restylane Perlane, Juvederm Ultra4, Juvederm Voluma or Succeev Three.

How does the treatment work?

The product rich in hyaluronic acid is injected directly into the sunken cheek below the cheekbone. The treatment is performed with a needle which injects proper amount of the product with numerous punctures. This technique allows the doctor to cover a relatively large area with a fan of threads which provides support for the whole cheek. It can also be distributed from one or two punctures with special elastic cannula which makes it possible to bring the area “out” and restore its rounding out contours. Both techniques guarantee excellent results, the use of the cannula, however brings bruising to minimum. During the treatment the practitioner usually injects 0,5 ml of the product into each cheek.

The treatment is designed for any woman or man who feel uncomfortable with sunken cheeks. This usually happens at the age of 40, especially among slim people, but it still may be too early to have any treatments which correct such changes. The decision to undergo such treatments is very individual and it is usually taken when patients find it difficult to accept their aging, sad look caused by sunken cheeks.

What are the results?

After the treatment the collapsed cheeks are filled and the skin is smooth again. Bruises and shadows disappear. The natural property of hyaluronic acid is to gradually absorb water and increase its volume so the volumising result of the injection is even more distinct many weeks after the treatment. Hyaluronic acid is also responsible for the production of collagen so the final result is replenished volume, firmer and younger looking skin.
When do I see the final results of the treatment?

It is easier to correct such defects gradually which means that sometimes more product has to be injected after 3 or 4 weeks. It usually takes another 3-4 weeks before the final result can be enjoyed.

How many treatments do I need to see satisfactory results?

Younger patients, under 40 years of age, are usually satisfied with a single injection of 1 ml to 2 ml of hyaluronic acid. To see satisfactory results, older patients usually require another treatment performed after 3 to 4 weeks.

How long do I see the results of the treatment?

Satisfactory results, which have been achieved after 1 to 2 treatments, can usually be enjoyed for 12 -18 months. This period of time depends on the patient’s age, the kind of the filler as well as the patient’s general physical condition. It must be emphasized that smoking can significantly diminish the results of the treatment.

How often do I need to repeat the treatment?

The treatment should be repeated every 12 -18 months, depending on how long the patient can enjoy the results. There is no need for any preliminary medical preparation, but patients have to be in good physical condition. One week before the treatment patients should not take aspirin or any other medication that decrease blood coagulability. We advise our patients to take aescin (Aescin 3x2tabl, Reparil 3x2 tabl), a few days before the treatment as it decreases the risk of hematoma. Patients who tend to suffer from herpes should prophylactically take acyclovir (Heviran tablets 400 mg twice a day) two days before the treatment.

After the treatment

You can do it by using a high factor sun protection that will protect against both UVA and UVB radiation (SPF 30-50+), as well as products which contain antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E, ferulic acid or flavonoid.

The therapy includes a series of medical skin peels (medical skin peel for the eyes Argipeel or Mandelac T) or products rich in multiple ingredients (NCTF HA, NEWEST, UP GRADE).

How are vertical wrinkles around the lips formed?

Vertical wrinkles around the lips are also wrongly called „smoker’s wrinkles” as they are a common skin problem among both smokers and non-smokers. These thin lines are caused by the dystrophy of fat tissue and, as a result, loose and sagging skin. Another factor that is responsible for the appearance of vertical wrinkles is the circular muscle which function cause new lines and deepen the existing ones. Such lines are easy to see when we drink through a straw or smoke. With time, the lines become more visible, even when the circular muscle is relaxed. Vertical wrinkles often stretch over the lip contour, which is when it is the most appropriate time to reduce them.

In order to reduce smoker’s wrinkles we choose from a wide variety of products: Restylane Vital, Restylane, Restylane Perlane, Restylane Lip Refresh, Restylane Lip Volume, Juvederm Ultra Smile, Juvederm Ultra 3, Juvederm Ultra 4, Succeev Two lub Succeev Three, Teosyal Kiss, Regenyal Lips.

How does the treatment work?

The product rich in hyaluronic acid is injected evenly into and along each crease. The treatment is performed with a needle which injects proper amount of the product along each crease with numerous punctures. It can also be distributed along the wrinkle from one puncture on each side of the crease with special elastic canniula which makes it possible to distribute the product under the lips, just over the surface of the skin.

The treatment is designed for any woman or man who feels uncomfortable with vertical wrinkles around their lips. It is especially dedicated for women who find it difficult to accept make up melting into the lines around their lips. This usually happens at the age of 40, especially with smokers.

What are the results?

After the treatment the lines look filled and visibly more shallow. The treatment to the border of your lips provides a crisp, well-defined shape and improves lip contour and definition.

It is easier to correct such lines gradually which means that sometimes more product has to be injected after 3 or 4 weeks. It usually takes another 3-4 weeks before the final result can be enjoyed.

How many treatments do I need to see satisfactory results?

Younger patients, under 40 years of age, are usually satisfied with a single injection of 0,5 ml to 1ml of hyaluronic acid. To see satisfactory results, older patients (55-60 years old ) usually require another treatment performed 3 to 4 weeks after the first injection.

How long do I see the results of the treatment?

Satisfactory results, which have been achieved after 1 to 2 treatments, can usually be enjoyed for 6-12 months. This period of time depends on the patient’s age, the kind of the filler as well as the patient’s lifestyle and their general physical condition. It must be emphasized that smoking can significantly diminish the results of the treatment.

How often do I need to repeat the treatment?

The treatment should be repeated every 6-12 months, depending on how long the patient is satisfied with the results. Further treatments usually require less product as the increased amount of collagen in the skin strengthens its structure and helps it look younger. Such treatments are usually called “maintenance therapy”.

Contraindications include

  • Oversensitivity to any of the ingredients, especially hyaluronic acid,
  • Autoimmune disease,
  • Susceptibility to keloids,
  • Skin bacterial infection,
  • Herpes virus,
  • Pregnancy and breast-feeding,
  • Teenagers under 18,
  • Other dermal filling treatments performed on the same area.

How do I look just after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment you should expect the area to be a little swollen, red and tender which is caused by the filler and swelling. Puncture sites are still visible but these will disappear soon. The treated area can be swollen and tender which is caused by the filler. Shortly after the treatment hematocele and bruising may occur but these usually disappear within a few days. Bruising sometimes takes a couple of days to develop and 10-14 days to change colour and resolve with no further damage to the final result.

What happens to our rose lip colour?

Our lips usually start losing their rose colour and volume relatively early. When our patients turn 30 -35 years old, they often say they miss fresh, luscious look of their lips. Although it is too early to undergo any volumising treatments at this age, you can still try and refresh the colour of your lips.

How does the treatment work?

The treatment involves injecting product rich in hyaluronic acid (Restylane Lip Refresh, Juvederm Hydrate, NCTF HA) directly into the red pigment of the lips. It is performed with a needle which injects tiny amounts of the product. It can also be distributed from one puncture on each corner of the mouth with special elastic canniula, which makes it possible to distribute the product evenly under the lower and upper lips. After the injection, the product is evenly distributed and massaged properly by the practitioner.

The treatment can also be performed a few months after a volumising treatment, that is often when the patient feels the colour of her lips need to be refreshed again (maintenance treatment).

What are the results?

What happens to the corners of our lips?

Over time human skin becomes thinner, dehydrated and lax as it gradually loses its natural resources of collagen. This process involves all skin layers, bones and muscles especially those responsible for the face mimics. The muscles lose their firmness and as a result they are unable to keep falling lip corners in their “ youthful” position. Another significant change that contributes to falling lip corners is the sagging skin on the cheeks. It forms folds of loose skin coming down on the lip corners due to gravity which gives the face a sad and angry expression.

This process can be stopped with a single injection of hyaluronic acid to help your skin regain its youthful look.

To fill and raise the corners of the mouth we choose from a wide variety of treatments: Restylane Vital, Restylane, Restylane Lip Volume, Restylane Lip Refresh, Juvederm Ultra Smile, Juvederm Ultra 2, Juvederm Ultra 3, Juvederm Ultra 4, Succeev Two lub Succeev Three oraz Teosyal Kiss and Regenyal Lips.

How does the treatment work?

The product rich in hyaluronic acid is injected into the corners of the mouth. The product is injected directly into the folds under the corners of the mouth and in the area around them. The treatment is performed with a needle or with special elastic cannula. Both techniques allow to inject the product so that it makes linear deposits of hyaluronic acid which is the structure to hold falling corners of the mouth.

The treatment is designed for any woman or man who have noticed that the corners of their lips are slightly falling which gives them a sad look. This usually happens at the age of 40.

What are the results?

After the treatment the folds under the corners of the lips are filled and the lip corners are raised which gives the face a refreshed and happy look again.

It is easier to correct such defects gradually which means that sometimes more product has to be injected after 3 or 4 weeks. It usually takes another 3-4 weeks before the final result can be enjoyed.

How many treatments do I need to see satisfactory results?

Younger patients, under 45 years of age, are usually satisfied with a single injection of 0,5 ml of hyaluronic acid. To see satisfactory results, older patients ( 55 – 60 years of age) usually require another treatment performed after 3 to 4 weeks.

How long do I see the results of the treatment?

Satisfactory results, which have been achieved after 1 to 2 treatments, can usually be enjoyed for 6 to 12 months. This period of time depends on the patient’s age, the kind of the filler as well as the patient’s general physical condition. It must be emphasized that smoking can significantly diminish the results of the treatment.

How often do I need to repeat the treatment?

The treatment should be repeated every 6 to 12 months, depending on how long the patient can enjoy the results.

Puncture sites are still visible these but will disappear soon. Shortly after the treatment hematoma and bruising may occur but these usually disappear within a few days. Bruising sometimes takes a couple of days to develop and 10-14 days to change colour and resolve with no further damage to the final result.

Before the treatment: guidelines

There is no need for any preliminary medical preparation, but patients have to be in good physical condition.

You can do it by using a high factor sun protection that will protect against both UVA and UVB radiation (SPF 30-50+), as well as products which contain antioxidants such as vitamin C, vitamin E or flavonoid.

Patients who are planning this treatment should also consider a series of other lip treatments such as lip filling with hyaluronic acid or “marionette” lines correction as it is easier to perform all these treatments during a single procedure. In some cases we recommend that patients are injected with Botulinum Toxin (Botox, Azzalure, Bocouture) in order to weaken the muscle temporarily. We also recommend skin rejuvenating therapy which will help to stimulate skin for better production of collagen. The therapy includes a series of medical skin peels (pyruvic acid, glycolic salicylic acid), mezotherapy with hyaluronic acid (Juvederm Hydrate) or products rich in multiple ingredients (NCTF HA, NEWEST, UP GRADE).

Neck - the aging processes

As the skin on the neck is more sensitive than skin on other parts of our body it undergoes degenerative changes due to aging, sun exposure, weight gain, and genetic predilection. The ageing processes go through all skin layers, subcutaneous tissue and a broad muscle called platysma. Due to the breakdown in the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid the skin is more likely to get dry and get thinner over time. As a result, the skin loses its firmness and volume and begins to change due to lifestyle factors and gravity. Another significant factor is the loss of subcutaneous tissue and weaker muscles which diminish the skin’s ability to stay firm. The neck is especially at risk of rapid stretching which makes this part of our body difficult to keep firm and youthful. Gradually, the skin becomes lax forming multiple horizontal wrinkles and numerous horizontal rhytides which are prominent while turning or bending the head. The muscle which has so far been the only scaffolding for the skin can no longer keep it firm.

This process can be stopped with a single injection of hyaluronic acid to help your skin regain its youthful look.

How does the treatment work?

The areas of neck which need enhancement is injected with product rich in hyaluronic acid. It is injected evenly all over the neck with particular attention paid to the chin as well as the subclavian area. The treatment is performed with a special elastic canniula which have been designed so as not to make numerous punctures. With such canniula it is possible to distribute the product evenly all over neck.
The amount of 1 ml to 3 ml of the product is injected.

The treatment is designed for any woman who has experienced decreasing condition of the skin on the neck. These changes may include lines, wrinkles and the lack of firmness. With slim women these processes are usually noticeable over 45 years of age which is the best time to undergo the treatment.

What are the results?

After the treatment the result is an instant filling-out effect so that the skin looks smoother, tighter and hydrated. The skin is also less wrinkled while turning and bending the head. The natural property of hyaluronic acid is to gradually absorb water and increase its volume so the volumising result of the treatment remains distinct even many weeks after the treatment. As a result the skin slowly becomes denser as it regains its ability to produce bigger amounts of collagen. The final result is replenished volume, denser and smoother skin.

When do I see the final results of the treatment?

The final results should be expected after 3 to 4 weeks after the treatment. It is usually then that the practitioner together with the patient make the decision concerning additional treatments which are sometimes necessary. Our usual practice is to achieve the desired effect gradually rather than with one big application of the product. Such approach sometimes means the need to repeat the treatment after 3-4 weeks and then enjoy the final result.

How many treatments do I need to see satisfactory results?

Younger patients under 45 years of age are usually satisfied with a single injection of 2 ml to 3 ml of hyaluronic acid. To see satisfactory results older patients usually need another treatment performed 3 to 4 weeks after the first injection.

How long do I see the results of the treatment?

Satisfactory results, which have been achieved after 1 to 2 treatments, can usually be enjoyed for 10 to 12 months. This period of time depends on the patient’s age, the kind and amount of the filler as well as the patient’s lifestyle and their general physical condition. It must be emphasized that smoking can significantly diminish the results of the treatment.

How do the hand skin get old?

The transition from perfect baby skin as a child to older, wrinkled, blotchy skin of the elderly is a progressive process. This process involves all skin layers (epidermis, dermis, subcutaneous tissue) as well as the muscles which are directly under the skin. The skin becomes thinner and dehydrated as it gradually loses more and more collagen and hyaluronic acid. What is more, the hands are exposed to UV radiation and other irritant substances we come in contact with on a daily basis which contributes to numerous skin pigmentation problems. Another fact that contributes to aging processes is the atrophy of subcutaneous tissue and muscles which are directly under the skin.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural ingredient of human skin. It is produced by fibroblasts which form the structural framework for human tissues. Hyaluronic acid fills intercellular areas and makes perfect environment for skin cells. How does the treatment work?

The product rich in hyaluronic acid is injected directly into the area of the hands which need enhancement. It is distributed evenly all over the hands with special attention given to fingers and side edges. The treatment is performed with a cannula which injects proper amount of the product with a single puncture made in the patient’s wrist. This technique allows the doctor to cover a relatively large area with a fan of threads which provides support for the whole area of the hands. During the treatment the practitioner usually injects 1 ml to 2 ml of the product into each hand. After the injection, the product is evenly distributed and massaged properly by the practitioner.

Do I need local anaesthetic?

Our usual practice is to apply an anaesthetic cream (Emla) 30-40 minutes before the injection. Who is the treatment for?

The treatment is designed for any woman who is unhappy with her wrinkled, blotchy hands. This usually happens at the age of 50, especially among slim women.

What are the results?

After the treatment the skin on the hands becomes firmer and all collapsed areas are smooth again. The general condition of the skin improves significantly – perfectly hydrated, the skin regains its youthful glow and helps to cover vascular changes.

The final results should be expected after 3 to 4 weeks after the treatment. It is usually then that the practitioner together with the patient make the decision concerning additional treatments which are sometimes necessary, especially with deeper wrinkles. It is easier to correct such changes gradually which means that sometimes more product has to be injected after 3 or 4 weeks. It usually takes another 3-4 weeks before the final result can be enjoyed. How many treatments do I need to see satisfactory results?

Younger patients, under 45 years of age, are usually satisfied with a single injection of 2 ml to 3 ml of hyaluronic acid. To see satisfactory results, older patients whose skin is more wrinkled and dehydrated, usually require another treatment done every 3 to 4 weeks after the first injection.

How long do I see the results of the treatment?

Satisfactory results, which have been achieved after 1 or 2 treatments, can usually be enjoyed for up to 10 -12 months. This period of time depends on the patient’s age, the power of the muscle and its work, the kind of the filler as well as the patient’s general physical condition and lifestyle. It must be emphasized that smoking and sun exposure can both significantly diminish the results of the treatment.

How often do I need to repeat the treatment?

The treatment should be repeated every 6 to 10 months, depending on how long the patient can enjoy the results. The ageing of the décolleté and bust

The skin on the décolleté and bust area is more sensitive than skin on other parts of the body. The processes involved in the ageing of these areas go through all skin layers, subcutaneous tissue and muscles just below the skin. Due to the breakdown in production of collagen and hyaluronic acid the skin is more likely to get dry and thinner over time. As a result, the skin loses its firmness and volume and begins to change due to factors such as lifestyle and gravity. The bust is especially at risk of rapid stretching (typically in pregnancy and breast feeding). Another significant factor is the loss of subcutaneous tissue and weakened muscles which, together with gravity and lifestyle factors, diminish the skin’s ability to stay firm.

This process can be stopped with a single injection of hyaluronic acid to help your skin regain its youthful look.

How does the treatment work?

The area of breast and decollete, especially the areas which need enhancement is injected with product rich in hyaluronic acid. It is injected evenly all over the bust with particular attention paid to the area between the breasts, just above them as well as the subclavian area. The treatment is performed with special elastic canniula which have been designed so as not to make numerous punctures. With such canniula it is possible to distribute the product evenly all over bust and décolleté. The canniula makes it possible to cover a relatively large area with a fan of threads, while limiting the number of puncture sites. This technique will also enhance the soft tissue and help skin to regain its hydration and firmness.
The treatment with the application of Restylane is called “hyaluronic thread” while the treatment with the application of Juvederm is called “Juvelift”. The amount of 2 ml to 5 ml of the product is injected. After the injection, the product is evenly distributed and massaged properly by the practitioner.

Do I need local anaesthetic?

Who is the treatment for?

The treatment is designed for any woman who has observed decreasing condition of the bust and décolleté skin which may include wrinkles and the lack of firmness. With slim women these processes usually occur over 50 years of age. However, they can be increasingly observed among younger mothers, women who have lost considerable amount of weight as well as women who do not apply sunscreen on their bust or décolleté.

What are the results?

After the treatment the result is an instant filling-out effect so that the skin looks smoother, less wrinkled, lighter and hydrated.

Such approach sometimes means the need to repeat the treatment after 3-4 weeks before the patient can enjoy the final result.

How many treatments do I need to see satisfactory results?

Younger patients under 45 years of age are usually satisfied with a single injection of 2ml to 5ml of hyaluronic acid. To see satisfactory results, older patients usually require another treatment performed 3 to 4 weeks after the first injection.

How long do I see the results of the treatment?

Satisfactory results, which have been achieved after 1 to 2 treatments, can usually be enjoyed for 6 up to 10 months. This period of time depends on the patient’s age, the kind and amount of the filler as well as the patient’s lifestyle and their general physical condition. It must be emphasized that smoking can significantly diminish the results of the treatment.

How often do I need to repeat the treatment?

The treatment should be repeated every 6 to 10 months, depending on how long the patient can enjoy the results. Further treatments usually require less product as the increased amount of collagen in the skin strengthens its structure and helps it look younger. Such treatments are usually called “maintenance therapy”.

Patients who are planning HYDROBALANS treatment should also consider resurfacing performed with the use of a fractional laser Palomar StarLux500 Lux 1540 or photorejuvenating treatment with laser handpiece MagG.
